Samsung USA has announced that it will cancel pre-orders for the delayed Galaxy Fold smartphone, unless buyers explicitly say they still want it. An email was sent out to customers who pre-ordered the device, asking them to make a choice. The email doesn’t show a lot of confidence in the controversial product: apparently Samsung doesn’t expect the modifications it needs to make to be finished soon and it doesn’t expect customers to hold on to their orders. Else it would have been an opt-out system instead of opt-in. Customers have to make a decision before May-31st.
Meanwhile, pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold in Europe haven’t even opened yet. Customers were able to subscribe to a notification email that would alert them when the pre-orders started. However, they never did. It seems dark clouds are hanging over the Galaxy Folds future.
