Samsung are confident that production models of their Galaxy Fold smartphone, which will be available next month, won’t suffer from visible creases in the display. Samsung spokesperson Cella Sin confirmed to Foldable News that the final retail model will be completely wrinkle-free. Doubts were raised by a leaked video (embedded below), showing a clear crease in the middle of the display, where the hinge of the device is placed.
No crease whatsoever
“The device used in the YouTube video may have been a prototype or rejected production device”, Sin says. “We don’t know. But what we do know is that the phones going to the end-users will have no crease whatsoever. Not even when the display is off, or all white.”
Samsung announced today that the Galaxy Fold will be available for pre-order on April 26 in Europe, ahead of its retail launch on Friday May 3rd in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Romania. Networks that will carry it include Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, O2, Proximus Germany, Swisscom, Sunrise and Mobilezone.
