Japanese company Sharp has showed a foldable smartphone, using their own flexible display technology. The phone was presented at a trade show in Japan. The display is a 6.2″ flexible AMOLED with a high, WQHD+ (1440×3040) resolution. It folds in half vertically, according to Engadget Japan.
Booth personell says that it can withstand over 300,000 folding cycles. The phone that was demonstrated at the trade show folds inward, but Sharp says it can also fold outward. Sharp markets its smartphones in Japan under the Aquos brand. The company hasn’t announced plans to bring the device to market anytime soon.
